A long chapter in the operational history of the F-15 Eagle was closed out on 31 March 1995 when the 550th Fighter Squadron was inactivated and the last of their assigned F-15 aircraft moved to Seymour-Johnson AFB.

The first F-15 arrived at Luke in November 1974 and there were a total of four fighter squadrons assigned to Luke's assigned wings at the zenith of F-15 ops in the 1980s with
