When I was in the USAF you had to write the date in this odd format, DD/MM/Y, when documenting an aircraft's AFTO 781 series forms. I guess it beat the Julian date which would have been written 93282!
Nonetheless, Here is a look back on a real good morning of shooting at Luke AFB.
The 432d FW "Gunsmoke 93" team of six F-16Cs from Misawa AB, Japan was TDY to Luke for some workups for the biannual "Gunsmoke" bombing competition at Nellis. There was a couple of 363d FW Shaw F-16s, one Luke F-16D, some various AETC units T-37B "Ramp Trash" on the TA ramp, and to wrap it up, five F-15Es from the 3d Wing from Elmendorf AFB down for a TDY.
Not a bad Saturday morning!
Enjoy this look back almost 20 years ago!
