It's too bad these A-4's didn't get the cance to dogfight more in Vietnam, they're so manuverable, would have been an interesting match with the Mig-17. I know I can say the same about the F-5 vs. Mig 21 and the F-100 vs Mig 19 too.

On 1 May 67 LCDR Ted Schwartz shot down a Mig-17 w/ a Zuni rocket in a VA-76 A-4C, BU 148609.

Three A-1H's also shot down Mig-17's as well.

I heard about the Zuni rocket kill. I'm highly curious to how he pulled that off.

Did not know about those three. Thanks!

Scooters are pretty nimble. The Mig probably overshot the A-4 trying to get a kill and the A-4 took the shot. Zuni's weren't the most accurate weapon :)

I know, talk about a one and a million shot, if he only fired one. :wow: Personally I would have switched to the 20mm and did the old fashioned way.
