Red Eagles Talon by F16CrewChief Red Eagles Talon by F16CrewChief
A real interesting find! T-38A 61-0870 assigned to the 4477 TES (Test and Evaluation Sq), 57 FWW based at the Tonopah Test Range and seen on the ramp at Nellis AFB.

The "Red Eagles" of the 4477 was the group that secretly operated and evaluated the Russion fighters "uprange" at the TTR.

According to a friend who was a "Red Eagle", they operated during daylight hours and were completely segregated from the 44550 Tactical Group who secretly operated the F-117's uprange during the hours of darkness.

Niether group was "Cleared for Weird" to know about the other fighter program being operated at opposite times of day from the same facility.

It is a strange world, in 1988, the US would have paid a lot to get their hands on a MiG-29 and in 1992, they were on QRA for NATO. I read that the HMS/AA-11 combination scared the pants of NATO. Actually, the HMS was developed by the USAF and then scratched for some reason, the Army picked it up and the Russians were sure that USAF had it, so they stole the blueprints and developed their own version.
