Here is my large wood cabinet of slides of US Military acft.
There is an envelope for each individual aircraft I have a slide or neg of. The caption lists the manufacturer and model (MDS) of the acft, SN of the acft and date the earliest slide was taken.
Here we see the envelope for B-52G 58-0193. It is a block 100 jet built at Boeing Wichita.
My Friend Brian Rogers shot is as a Castle jet in Jul 1984, Barry Roop shot it as a Griffiss jet in July 1991 in the grey scheme, and I shot it as a Barksdale jet in AMARC in May 1993.
In this drawer you can see slides stored alphabetically from manufacturer's name from Aero Commander acft through Beech acft, Boeing B-52, C-135's, E-4/ C-25's and C-22s.
I have a pretty extensive slide collection, but I have some friend's with collections that truly make mine seem puny!
Hope you enjoy these and maybe understand my fascination with serials and unit markings on military aircraft...
Now that is organization and attention to detail at its finest! A lot of work and care went into preserving and organizing all of that history. I for one am very happy you preserved all of these photos - so many incredible shots of historic aircraft!
Since slide film is based on dyes you might want to read this artical on preserving them. [link]
